ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
(अति सक्रियता विकार)

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a complex mental health disorder or a behavioral disorder of children that can affect a child's success in school and with interpersonal relationships.

There is no specific or definitive test for ADHD. Instead, diagnosing is a process that takes several steps and involves gathering a lot of information from multiple sources. It is very difficult to diagnose ADHD in children younger than 5 years.

The symptoms of ADHD vary and are sometimes difficult to recognize. Here are some common signs that may indicate ADHD:

1. Making careless mistakes
A child with ADHD may show interest in many different things, but may have problems seeing them through to the end.  For example, they may start projects or homework but leave, and move on to the next thing that catches their interest before finishing.
2. Lack of Focus
A child with ADHD may have trouble paying attention, even when being spoken to directly. They'll say they heard you, but won’t be able to repeat back to you what you just said.
3. Appearing forgetful or losing things
4. Constantly changing activity or task
5. Having difficulty organising tasks
6. Me, Me, Me

A common sign of ADHD is an inability to recognize other people's needs and desires. A child with ADHD may interrupt other people when they’re talking. They may have trouble waiting their turn for classroom activities or when playing games with other children.
7. Being unable to sit still, especially in calm or quiet surroundings
8. Acting without thinking

9. Interrupting conversations
10. Little or no sense of danger
11. Day Dreamer:
A child with ADHD may stare into space, daydreaming, and ignore what's going on around them.

In some cases, behavior that looks like ADHD might be caused instead by:
• A sudden life change (such as divorce, a death in the family, or moving)
• Undetected seizures
• Medical disorders affecting brain function
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Bipolar disorder

As modern medicine has failed to provide a cure for a variety of health problems, more and more people are turning towards the Ayurveda,
Ayurvedic texts describe three aspects of mental ability: Dhi (the power of acquisition or learning), Dhriti (the power of retention), and Smriti (the ability to recall). When the three mental functions are not in balance, either individually or in their coordination with one another, then learning problems can crop up.
When these three mental functions are coordinated, then the child's memory is quick and bright. If impurities (ama) are obstructing the channels of communication between these three functions, then not only learning problems but behavioral problems can begin.
